New Hegenscheidt underfloor lathe expands the service portfolio of DPB Rail Technical Service GmbH

DPB Rail Technical Service GmbH now has a state-of-the-art Hegenscheidt underfloor lathe for standard-gauge locomotives. This system enables the precise reprofiling of wheelsets.
In addition, individual wheelsets can be reprofiled and brake discs (including internal ones) can be turned. The system has the further advantage that wheelsets connected to cardan shafts can also be turned without dismantling the cardan shafts.
The process begins with the locomotive being fed onto the underfloor lathe using the company's own shunting locomotive. All axles are then measured before machining begins. Based on the measurement data, the wheelset profile required by the customer can be precisely manufactured.

A special advantage: The DPB team received intensive training on the new machine directly from Hegenscheidt experts. This ensures that all work is carried out according to the highest technical standards.

The new Hegenscheidt underfloor lathe represents the latest state of the art and enables efficient and fast wheel set reconditioning – a further step towards offering our customers the highest quality and short turnaround times.
